What Is Shinminato Bridge? One of the Largest Cable-Stayed Bridges on the Sea of Japan Coast
Shinminato Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge spanning Toyama Shinkō Port in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture.
Including the approach sections, the total length is about 3.6 km, and the main bridge section over the water is about 600 m. It opened in 2012.
Its distinctive two-level structure features a roadway on the upper level and an all-weather pedestrian and bicycle passage on the lower level called the “Ainokaze Promenade.”
On clear days, you can enjoy views of the Tateyama mountain range and Toyama Bay from the bridge.
The bridge is illuminated at night, offering scenery different from the daytime view.

Elevators are installed on both sides of the bridge, with barrier-free access in mind.
Please note that bicycles cannot be ridden through the passage; you must dismount and push them.

The bridge is illuminated at night.
If you want to enjoy the post-sunset scenery, it is helpful to check the lighting time in advance.
4. Kaiwomaru Park and Nearby Sightseeing
At “Kaiwomaru Park” at the foot of the bridge, the first-generation “Kaiwomaru” is permanently moored.
You can also tour the inside of the sailing ship (400 yen for adults).
At nearby “Shinminato Kitokito Market,” you can enjoy seafood and Toyama specialties.

Parking
Free parking is available around Kaiwomaru Park.
It may be crowded during sightseeing seasons and events, so arriving early is recommended.
