Ride requirements vary by attraction; Bandit requires riders to be at least 120 cm tall and of elementary school age or older.

Popular Attractions

Yomiuriland’s signature Bandit roller coaster reaches a top speed of 110 km/h. The 59 m Sky-Go-LAND Ferris wheel offers views of Mount Fuji when weather permits.

Nearest Stations and How to Get There

The nearest stations are about 25–30 minutes by train from Shinjuku Station. From Keio-Yomiuriland Station, take the Sky Shuttle gondola or a bus; from the separate Yomiuriland-mae Station on the Odakyu Line, take a bus for about 10 minutes.

Adult admission costs ¥1,800; an adult One-Day Pass including admission and unlimited rides on eligible attractions costs ¥5,900. Discounted prices are available online.

Opening Hours and Closed Days

Typical daytime hours are around 10:00–17:00, with some evening openings until around 20:30. Closed days vary.

Seasonal Events

Spring brings about 800 cherry trees in the park and surrounding grounds (usually late March–early April); summer offers the outdoor Pool WAI, and autumn through spring brings the jewel-colored Jewellumination light display.

Hands-on Experiences at GOOD JOBA!!

Make your own original yakisoba at My U.F.O. Factory: about 45 minutes, ¥500 participation fee (passes not accepted; a numbered ticket is required). Along with the indoor Spin Runway coaster, it is an option for a rainy day.

Things to Do at Yomiuriland: Popular Rides and Hands-On Workshops

Yomiuriland is an amusement park spread across hills spanning Inagi in Tokyo and Tama Ward in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, where you can spend a full day combining thrilling roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, and hands-on workshops.

This long-established amusement park opened in 1964 and has more than 40 attractions, along with seasonal events.

For a first visit, deciding whether you most want thrills, views, or hands-on experiences will help you choose where to go inside the park.

Bandit: A Roller Coaster Racing Through the Forest at Up to 110 km/h

Bandit, one of Yomiuriland's signature roller coasters, opened in 1988 and takes riders up and down through the forest.

Trains race along its 1,560-meter track at up to 110 km/h, combining views from high above with the sensation of racing close to the trees.

In spring, the coaster speeds through cherry blossoms, and the changing scenery across the seasons adds to its appeal.

Riders must be at least 120 cm tall and of elementary school age or older, so check the requirements in advance if you are visiting with children who enjoy fast rides.

Rather than persuading reluctant companions to ride, agree on a meeting place for afterward so everyone can enjoy the visit comfortably.

Sky-Go-LAND: A Ferris Wheel with Views of Mount Fuji

Sky-Go-LAND, a Ferris wheel that opened in October 2024, offers views across the park and, in good weather, Mount Fuji.

The 59-meter-tall Ferris wheel has 42 gondolas, each carrying up to 4 people, or 3 when a wheelchair is used, and takes around 14 minutes to complete a leisurely rotation.

All gondolas have heating and air conditioning, and users of wheelchairs up to 70 cm wide can board without transferring, making it a good choice for a calmer experience than a roller coaster.

At night, LED lighting illuminates the wheel, and during the seasonal illumination event you can look down over the park's colorful lights.

Distant views depend on the weather, so it helps to look forward to the view of the park itself as well.

Spin Runway: An Indoor Roller Coaster at Goodjoba!!

Goodjoba!! is an area where rides and workshops introduce you to how things are made.

Opened in 2016, the area brings together attractions and workshops themed around manufacturing in fields such as cars, food, fashion, and health.

Spin Runway is an indoor roller coaster that travels through a factory-themed setting, with scenes depicting clothing production in the first half of the course.

The coaster runs with rotating seats, and its ascending lift section features images of fashion items and colorful lighting.

Riders must be at least 4 years old and 110 cm tall, and anyone under 6 years old or under 130 cm tall needs a companion of junior high school age or older.

Although it is indoors, this is still a thrill ride, so check its movements and rider requirements rather than choosing it simply to escape the rain.

Make Your Own Original Yakisoba at My U.F.O. Factory

My U.F.O. Factory is a workshop inside Goodjoba!! where you can create your own original Nissin Yakisoba U.F.O., a Japanese instant fried-noodle product.

The process includes drawing on a design sheet and choosing ingredients, making it a participatory experience different from the rides.

Allow around 45 minutes for the workshop, and take your creation home as a souvenir.

If you have dietary restrictions, check the ingredients and allergen information before participating.

How to Get to Yomiuriland: Keio and Odakyu Stations and Transfers

Keio Yomiuri-Land Station on the Keio Line and Yomiuri-Land-mae Station on the Odakyu Line are different stations.

Depending on the train and transfers, the rail journey from Shinjuku Station takes around 25–30 minutes using either the Keio or Odakyu line.

When planning your route, check the line name as well as the station name, and include the journey from the station to the park entrance.

From Keio Yomiuri-Land Station: Sky Shuttle Gondola or Bus

From Keio Yomiuri-Land Station on the Keio Sagamihara Line, you can reach the amusement park by Sky Shuttle gondola or Odakyu Bus.

Sky Shuttle opened in 1999 and is around 882 meters long, taking you to the park on a scenic aerial journey of about 5–10 minutes.

The fare is 300 yen one way or 500 yen round trip, and it is not included in the park's One-Day Pass or After Pass.

The gondola may stop operating in bad weather, such as strong winds; if that happens, use the Odakyu Bus, which reaches the park from the station in around 5 minutes.

If you plan to stay until evening, check the return service information as well as the outbound journey.

From Yomiuri-Land-mae or Shin-Yurigaoka Station: Take a Bus

From Yomiuri-Land-mae Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line, take an Odakyu Bus bound for Keio Yomiuri-Land Station and get off at the Yomiuriland stop.

The bus journey from Yomiuri-Land-mae Station takes around 10 minutes.

You can also take a bus bound for Yomiuriland from Shin-Yurigaoka Station on the Odakyu Line, which takes around 20 minutes.

Choose the line that is most convenient from your accommodation, and save the bus destination and the name of your stop on your smartphone.

Yomiuriland Tickets, Prices, and Opening Hours

The right Yomiuriland ticket depends not only on when you enter but also on whether you want to focus on rides or workshops.

Admission Ticket vs. One-Day Pass: What Is Included and Standard Prices

An admission ticket covers entry to the amusement park only, while a One-Day Pass includes admission and unlimited rides on eligible attractions.

Standard admission is 1,800 yen for adults aged 18–64, 1,500 yen for junior and senior high school students, and 1,000 yen for elementary school students, seniors aged 65 and older, and preschool children aged 3 and older.

Standard One-Day Pass prices are 5,900 yen for adults, 4,700 yen for junior and senior high school students, 4,100 yen for elementary school students and seniors, and 2,500 yen for preschool children.

Discounted prices are available online, so compare ticket types and purchase methods before buying.

If you only plan to go on a few rides, compare a pass with buying admission and individual ride tickets.

If you are visiting later in the day, check which dates the After Pass is available, when entry begins, and which attractions are excluded.

During Jewellumination, the After Pass includes entry from 3:00 p.m. and unlimited rides on eligible attractions, with a standard adult price of 3,100 yen, but excludes rides such as Sky-Go-LAND.

Workshops Are Not Included in Passes: Prepare a Numbered Ticket and Participation Ticket

My U.F.O. Factory is not included in any of the passes and requires both a numbered ticket and a workshop participation ticket.

The participation fee is 500 yen, charged separately from park admission.

Only a limited number of numbered tickets are distributed, so if you want to participate, check availability after entering before planning the rest of your day.

Remember that "unlimited rides" does not cover every activity or transportation outside the park.

Check Opening Hours, Closing Days, and Ride Queue Cutoffs

Opening hours vary by day; daytime hours are generally around 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while the park stays open until around 8:30 p.m. on some evenings.

Closing days are irregular, so check the operating calendar and maintenance-related ride closures before visiting.

Not every facility stays open until the same time, and attractions may stop accepting guests before the park closes, especially during evening hours or busy periods.

Yomiuriland by Season: Cherry Blossoms, Summer Pools, and Winter Lights

In addition to rides, Yomiuriland offers seasonal scenery and events that can be a reason to visit in their own right.

Spring: Enjoy Around 800 Cherry Trees in the Park and Surrounding Grounds

Around 800 cherry trees, including Somei-yoshino, weeping cherry, and mountain cherry varieties, grow in the park and surrounding grounds, usually reaching peak bloom from late March to early April.

In spring, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing from perspectives unique to an amusement park, such as walking beneath the trees or looking down at the flowers from a gondola.

When Jewellumination dates overlap with peak cherry blossom season, you can enjoy the blossoms and illuminations together from late afternoon onward.

Plan a walk around the cherry blossoms when they are in bloom, and leave time to enjoy the park between rides.

Summer: Check Pool WAI's Opening Dates and Entry Rules

Pool WAI is a seasonal outdoor swimming pool that operated from June 27 to September 23 during the 2026 season.

If Pool WAI is your main reason for visiting in summer, check its separate operating calendar and ticket information, and bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Pool admission uses date-based variable pricing, and night swimming is offered on some dates.

Pool WAI does not admit visitors with tattoos, including small tattoos and tattoo stickers.

Alcohol, glass bottles, cans, and parasols are not permitted, and tents or sunshades taller than 130 cm or those that do not fold into a circular shape are also prohibited, so check the pool's rules on belongings and clothing.

Fall to Spring: Enjoy the Jewellumination Light Displays

Jewellumination is an illumination event produced by lighting designer Motoko Ishii, using LEDs inspired by the colors of gemstones.

The 2026 season runs from October 29, 2026, to April 4, 2027, excluding park closing days, with the subtheme Growing Light.

Lighting hours are generally 4:00–8:30 p.m. but vary by period, and on weekdays from March 1 to 12, 2027, only daytime amusement park operations are planned.

Growing Light adds a new shade inspired by green gemstones, along with displays such as fountain shows.

If the illuminations are your main reason to visit, check the event dates and lighting hours before choosing your day.

If you are staying until evening in cold weather, bring warm clothing and plan rest breaks as well as time for photography.

Visiting Yomiuriland with Kids or on a Rainy Day

Allow room to change your plans according to your companions' energy levels and ride preferences.

Check Both Height and Age Requirements for Children

The attraction list lets you narrow your options by conditions such as height, age, and suitability for children.

A notice requiring accompaniment means that the child must ride with a companion; check the specific requirements for each attraction.

Children who do not meet the minimum height or age requirements cannot ride even with a companion.

Here are some things to discuss with your companions, depending on your plans.

Companions or Plans What to Discuss First What to Decide
Visiting with small children Accompaniment on rides Who will accompany each child
Different ride preferences Experiences to enjoy together Where to meet after splitting up
Focusing on hands-on workshops Numbered ticket availability Adjust the itinerary after securing tickets
Staying until evening The return journey and warm clothing Agree on a departure time

On Rainy Days, Check Ride Operations and Consider Indoor Attractions

The attraction list has a filter for rides suitable for rain, but you should still check the day's operating status separately.

Consider the indoor Spin Runway coaster and hands-on workshops, and prepare alternatives in case your preferred attractions are closed.

If rain is forecast, prepare for walking between facilities as well.

  • Keep rain gear somewhere easy to reach
  • Bring a bag to separate wet belongings
  • Choose comfortable shoes with good grip

Yomiuriland Facilities: Wi-Fi, Language Support, and Stroller Rentals

Yomiuriland has facilities that make visits easier for international travelers and families with children.

Wi-Fi, Multilingual Information, and Payment Options

Wi-Fi is available in some areas of the park, helping you check map apps and ride operating information.

Along with Japanese, information is available in multiple languages, including English, simplified and traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Some counters and shops accept cards such as VISA, JCB, Mastercard, AMEX, and UnionPay as well as cash, but payment methods vary by location, so carrying a little cash is useful.

Stroller and Wheelchair Rentals and Accessible Facilities

The park offers stroller and wheelchair rentals, nursing rooms, and accessible restrooms.

The number of strollers and wheelchairs available for rental may be limited, so if you need one, check the rental location soon after entering.

Yomiuriland Rules and Etiquette: Photography, Belongings, and Queues

To enjoy your time in the park, familiarize yourself with the rules on belongings and queues as well as photography.

Check Photography Rules and Be Considerate of Others

Photos and videos taken in the park can be used for personal purposes as long as you do not disturb others.

Do not take commercial photographs without permission, and check on-site instructions about photography on rides and how to handle your equipment.

Avoid blocking the flow of people in walkways while taking photos or climbing fences or decorations to get a shot.

Rules to Follow Before Entering the Park or Boarding a Ride

Before joining a ride queue, finish eating, use the restroom, and make sure your whole group is present.

If you do not understand the instructions for seating or safety restraints, ask staff before boarding begins.

Keep the following distinctions in mind when managing your belongings and behavior in the park.

Situation What to Do Actions to Avoid or Prohibited Items
Preparing to enter Remove prohibited items from your bags Bringing glass bottles, cans, or alcohol
Queuing Join the line with your entire group Joining companions partway through the queue
Eating Finish before joining a ride queue Eating in indoor queues
Smoking Use designated areas Smoking outside designated areas

Planning Your Yomiuriland Visit

Yomiuriland is an amusement park where you can combine roller coasters, hands-on workshops, and seasonal scenery at your own pace.

Choosing your priority experiences and checking which station to use, what your ticket includes, and the day's ride operations makes a first visit easier to plan.

Before setting off, check prices, opening hours, and event dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

A. Yomiuriland opened in 1964 and occupies hilly grounds spanning Inagi in Tokyo and Tama Ward, Kawasaki, in Kanagawa Prefecture. It has more than 40 attractions. When it opened, the large leisure complex even included a ski slope, a monorail and the Ryugujo Underwater Theater, which staged underwater ballet performances that continued until 1996.
A. Popular attractions include the large Bandit roller coaster and the Sky-Go-LAND Ferris wheel. Bandit is 1,560 m long and reaches 110 km/h, with riders required to be at least 120 cm tall and of elementary school age or older. Introduced in 2024, the Ferris wheel is 59 m tall, with its highest point around 160 m above sea level. Discuss whether your companions prefer speed or a relaxing seated view to choose an attraction that suits them.
A. Jewellumination is a light display launched in 2010 that decorates Yomiuriland with jewel-colored LEDs. It usually runs from around late October to early April of the following year, with lighting and closing times varying by day. Enter before the lights come on and check your footing and potential photo locations while it is still light, reducing the need to search for spots or decide on compositions after dark.
A. Take a Keio Line limited express from Shinjuku to Chofu, then transfer to the Sagamihara Line to reach Keio Yomiuriland Station in about 25–30 minutes. From there, the Sky Shuttle gondola takes around 5–10 minutes and costs ¥300 one way or ¥500 round trip; when it is not operating, an Odakyu bus takes about 5 minutes. The gondola begins running 30 minutes before the park opens, and strollers must be folded, so families should prepare before reaching the boarding point.
A. Standard adult prices, for ages 18–64, are ¥1,800 for admission only and ¥5,900 for a One-Day Pass with unlimited rides. Registering for the free YomiLan CLUB membership and buying online reduces the One-Day Pass by ¥400 to ¥5,500. Add the cost of your planned paid attractions to the admission fee and compare it with the pass price to avoid buying more than you need for a short visit.
A. Opening hours vary by day, with evening opening on some dates during the Jewellumination season. Closing days also vary. Allow a full day to explore the popular rides and Goodjoba!!, including walking and queueing time. Once inside, compare waiting times and adjust your order, for example by returning later to a long queue, so you can explore flexibly.
A. Yes, the indoor Spin Runway coaster and the largely indoor Goodjoba!! area offer things to do in the rain. However, the park spreads across hilly grounds, so moving between areas involves many slopes and stairs. Wet surfaces can be slippery, and sneakers with good grip and a rain poncho that leaves your hands free make getting around much easier.
A. Advance booking is not required. You need a numbered ticket distributed inside the park on the day and a ¥500 workshop ticket; the workshop is not included in the One-Day Pass. It takes around 45 minutes and includes designing the lid and choosing ingredients. U.F.O. is a well-known Japanese instant cup yakisoba launched in 1976, and its name stands for Japanese words meaning “tasty, thick and big.”
